Summary
Architectural style of New Amsterdam (1625-1664). Characterized by stepped gable roofs, brick construction, tile roofs, and small-paned windows. Buildings were narrow and deep, reflecting Amsterdam building traditions. The Castello Plan (1660) shows approximately 350 structures in this style.
