Description
The region’s central index of scanned historic Philadelphia maps, atlases, and aerial photos, with an interactive viewer of georeferenced tile layers over the modern street grid. For the 18th century the pickings are thin: the earliest georeferenced layer is c. 1750 Philadelphia (N. Scull & G. Heap), followed by John Hills’s 1808 plan (two warp variants). No 18th-century vector parcel data is downloadable — historic map layers are offered as tile services “for appropriate projects” by contacting the Athenaeum.
TimeWalk assessment (2026-08-11): useful georeferencing crib (c. 1750 grid, 1808 Hills) and scan index, but no shortcut to 1776 vector parcels — those would need to be digitized from Reed 1774 and Hills 1796.
